Ratan Tata: Demonetisation will benefit poor, underprivileged

Mumbai: Ratan Tata on Saturday urged the nation to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi government's demonetisation programme.

Tata took to Twitter to show his support to demonetisation saying that it would enormously benefit the poor and underprivileged.

He went on claiming that the parallel black money economy in the country has triggered tax evasion, money laundering and corruption, and PM Modi has shown great courage to take a bold step against the black market.

He termed demonetisation as one of the three most important economic reforms in India along with delicensing and GST.

The move, that promotes cashless economy through mobile and digital payments, will benefit the poor in the long run.

Tata added that this move requires support of Indian citizens who want to see a more equitable division of nation's resources based on merit and opportunity.
