New Delhi: In an attempt to express solidarity against increasing cases of animal cruelty in India, an International rally will be held in 70 cities, including 50 in the country, across the globe on Sunday.

“The event will be primarily aimed at urging the Government of India to enact strict laws against cruelty with animals,” said rally organiser India Unites for Animals (IUFA).

The organisation also said that the country had seen some of the most monstrous acts of animal cruelty last year – from physical attack on police horse Shaktiman to setting puppies afire – which was deplorable and must stop at any cost.

Other highlights:

  • The list of participating cities also includes ten in United States of America (USA) and five in Australia.
  • Humane Society International (HSI) India will be backing IUFA in the noble cause.
