Powerful response of Indian Army creates peace at borders: Parrikar
Panaji: Taking a jibe at Pakistan, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said that cross border firing from Pakistani side had stopped since the powerful response of Indian Army. Parrikar said that Pakistan Army pleaded our armed forces to close down their counter response.
Addressing a rally in poll-bound Goa on Friday, Parrikar said:
- There is no doubt that the army is gallant, but for the first time, the country’s political leadership took a strong policy decision.
- We gave befitting reply to other cowardly attacks.
- It was the effect of a powerful response that some days back that the Directors General of Military Operations of the two countries held an “unscheduled hotline interaction” at Pakistan’s request.
- We said that we have no problem stopping it, but you stop it too. As a result, there is no firing on the border.
Parrikar’s remarks came days after the killing of three army jawans with one being mutilated by the Pakistan Army.
