New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday released the Hindi version of the book 'Odisha Itihaas' written by 'Utkal Kesari' Harekrishna Mahtab. During this, he said that about 1.5 years ago, we celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of Utkal Kesari Harekrishna Mahatab ji as an occasion of great inspiration.

Release of Odisha Itihaas by Narendra Modi:

This book is published in a year when the country is celebrating the Amrit Festival of Independence. This year, that event is also being completed for 100 years, when Hare Krishna Mahatab ji left college and joined the freedom movement.

Actually, the Hindi translation of this book already available in Oriya and English has been done by Shankarlal Purohit. Harekrishna Mahtab was a freedom fighter. He was also the first Chief Minister of Odisha. He remained in Ahmednagar Fort Jail for almost two years from 1942 to 1945 and during that time he composed the Odisha History Book.

PM Modi said, 'He took big decisions as the Chief Minister of Odisha. Even after reaching power, he considered himself to be a freedom fighter and he was a freedom fighter all his life. It may surprise the people's representatives today that the party from which he became the Chief Minister went to jail opposing the same party during the Emergency i.e. he was such a rare leader who went to jail for the independence of the country and the country He also went to jail to save democracy.

The Prime Minister said, 'Mahatab ji played an important role in the Indian History Congress, taking the history of Odisha to the national stage. In Odisha, there should be museums, archives, archeology blocks, all this was possible only with the historical vision and contribution of Mahatab ji. If you have read the history of Odisha of Mahatab ji, then you have come to know Odisha, have won Odisha. History is not only a chapter of the past, but also a mirror of the future. Keeping this idea in front, today the country is rejuvenating the history of independence in Amrit Mahotsav. '
