New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday paid tribute to the famous social reformer Jyotirao Phule on his birth anniversary and said that his commitment to improve the society will continue to inspire future generations.

Birth Anniversary of Jyotiba Phule:

In one of his tweets, he honored Jyotirao Phule, a great thinker, philosopher and writer, and said that he was committed to women's education and empowerment throughout his life.

Born in Maharashtra in 1827 to a very backward caste, Phule fought against social discrimination and struggled to promote education among the most deprived communities. He and his wife, Savitribai Phule, are considered pioneers for their efforts to promote education among women.

At the same time, PM Modi recently suggested a "Vaccination Festival" on the birth anniversary of Bhim Rao Ambedkar from April 11 to April 14 to promote vaccination against coronovirus among those eligible for the shots.

Apart from PM Modi, Karnataka Minister Sadanand Gowda has also bowed down to remember him on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule. He led the anti-caste movement, promoted education for women and devoted his entire life to the upliftment of the marginalized sections of the society '.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also appealed to the people to get the vaccine in large numbers during the festival. The Union Health Ministry said on Saturday that India has put 100 million vaccines in 85 days.
