Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched the Mahtari Vandan Yojana to provide financial assistance to women in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. On this occasion, he also released the first installment of Rs 1,000 each in the accounts of approximately 70 lakh women of the state.

PM Modi also addressed the program through video conferencing. He said that "it is a good fortune that today I got the opportunity to inaugurate the Mahtari Vandan Yojana with the aim of empowering 'women power'. Under the scheme, we had promised to give Rs 1,000 per month to more than 70 lakh women and today the BJP government has completed it." He said that on Sunday, the first installment of Rs 655 crore was sent to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries (married women) under the scheme. During this, PM Modi reiterated that 'when mothers and sisters are empowered, the entire family is empowered. Therefore, the priority of the BJP's double engine government at the Center and the state is the welfare of mothers and sisters.

At the same time, on not being able to physically attend the program, PM Modi said that I should have been among you today for this program, but due to some other commitments, I am in Uttar Pradesh. I am speaking from Kashi, the land of Baba Vishwanath, who is showering his blessings on you too. The Prime Minister said that he worshiped Lord Vishwanath on Saturday night and prayed for the welfare of the people of the country.

He said that his government has resolved to make three crore women in the country 'Lakhpati Didi' and the welfare of women is his priority. He said that the result of the efforts of our government is that more than one crore women have become 'Lakhpati Didi'. We have now resolved that we will fulfill the target of making three crore sisters of the country Lakhpati Didi.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister said that today families are getting permanent houses and that too in the name of women. He said that under the Ujjwala scheme, women are getting LPG cylinders at cheaper rates. Apart from this, more than 50 percent of Jan Dhan accounts are in the name of women, more than 65 percent of Mudra loans were given to women.

Modi said that in the last ten years, our government has brought change in the lives of more than 10 crore women through self-help groups.
