He also tweeted, “I urge people from all walks of life to create awareness on voter registration and especially request my young friends to register themselves as voters if they have not done so already. Every vote cast enhances our democratic fabric."

In order to encourage more young voters to take part in the political process, Government of India decided to celebrate January 25 every year as National Voters’ Day. It has been started from January 25, 2011 to mark Commission's foundation day.
