According to sources, the raid has been conducted in the agency's case number 31/2022, which pertains to the involvement of PFI and its leaders and cadres in violent and illegal activities. All the accused had gathered in Phulwarisharif area of Patna for the purpose of violent and illegal activities.

On September 27 last year, the central government had imposed a five-year ban on PFI and 8 organizations associated with it. The Home Ministry had issued a notification banning these organizations. Evidence of terror link was found against the organization. The Central Government took this action under UAPA (Unlawful Activities Prevention Act). The government said, the activities of PFI and its associated organizations are a big threat to the security of the country.
Raids are being conducted on such a large level against PFI at a time when assembly elections have been announced in five states of the country, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Mizoram. The investigating agency suspects that this banned organization can disrupt the elections in these states. The organization has a large reach in the minority society, and for its own benefit, this organization can try to change the election results.
