Srinagar: Pakistan troops on Saturday resorted to mortar shelling and heavy firing on Indian posts and villages along the Line of Control (LoC) on Saturday in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir.

"There is an unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan army in Nowshera sector from 1845 hrs on Saturday. They are firing 82 mm mortars, automatics and small arms. The Indian army personnel have taken positions and responding befittingly to the enemy fire," said defence spokesman.

He said that this is the fifth recent ceasefire violation in the region. There is no causality on Indian side.

It may be mentioned here that UN observers group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) had said that their investigation is on regarding alleged ceasefire violations in Pakistan occupied Kashmir.

"We have seen the alleged ceasefire violations over the Line of Control, which are currently being investigated by the UNMOGIP, in the Pakistani-administered side of the Line of Control at Domel, Kotli and Bhimber, where the security situation has, indeed, been tense," UN Secretary General's spokesman Stephane Dujarric had said.
