New Delhi: Following the much heightened Indo-Pak tension, Pakistan will not be invited to take part in the next Kabaddi World Cup which is scheduled to start from November 3 in the Indian city of Punjab.

“The prevailing circumstances in the wake of the surgical strikes carried out by the Indian Army in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) does not really augur well to Invite the team (Pak) for the World Cup,” said Sikander Singh Maluka, the organizing committee’s president and cabinet minister of Punjab.

Other highlights:

  • The event is scheduled to be held between November 3 and 17.
  • Pakistan has been the competition’s runner up for six times in the past.
