Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar’s decision to take over the reins of JD (U) may have been prompted by his desire to make the dealing with the grand opposition I.N.D.I.A alliance easier and take a shot at the top post should the results of the next year’s Lok Sabha elections turn out to be in its favour.

JDU MP Lalan Singh held the command of the party for two and a half years. Till yesterday, he was getting angry at the journalists who were continuously asking questions about his resignation, but today Lalan Singh proved all the speculations correct and said that he has got relieved from the post of President.
However, in the JDU meeting, Nitish Kumar targeted Congress and said that it does not publicize the achievements of his government and if it does so, it will only benefit itself.
There is not one but many reasons behind Nitish Kumar taking charge of JDU. Nitish Kumar will focus on the party instead of contesting the Lok Sabha elections and Nitish will be able to easily deal with the big leaders of 'India' group. If the opportunity comes to become the face of 'India' group, then the command of the party will be with Nitish.
As president, Nitish has more recognition for campaigning in the country than Lalan Singh. At the same time, after Nitish becomes the president, the growing dissatisfaction against the party leadership will be curbed. Also, as the president, Nitish Kumar will be able to take any decision easily and a president from a backward caste rather than an advanced caste is also in line with the caste equation.
Nitish Kumar, an old ally of BJP, has suddenly left the party twice and formed an alliance with RJD. Let us know what effect this step has had on the political health of JDU.
