In Bengaluru, the traffic police have issued notices to the owner of a two-wheeler, slapping a staggering ₹3.2 lakh in fines for 350 violations. The resident of Sudhamanagar now faces the challenge of clearing these dues or encountering serious consequences.

The two-wheeler in question has amassed a laundry list of violations over the last few months, ranging from driving in the wrong lane to not wearing a helmet and using a mobile phone while driving. This persistent pattern of offenses, occurring almost daily, prompted the police to visit the owner's residence and serve notices.

Despite the severity of the fines, the owner expressed an inability to pay the ₹3.2 lakh due to the scooter's secondhand market value of ₹30,000. The police, however, offered a lifeline – the option to clear dues in installments. Yet, a stern warning accompanied this choice: failure to settle the pending bills could lead to the filing of an FIR.

This incident isn't isolated; Bengaluru police have previously encountered similar cases, seizing two-wheelers laden with numerous pending challans. In a recent case, a vehicle with 99 pending charges faced detention, accompanied by an FIR and the cancellation of the owner's driving license.

Earlier in August, another Bengaluru resident attempted to dodge payment for 46 pending traffic fines. The police, swift in their response, compelled the individual to pay the ₹13,850 dues on the spot. These instances highlight the city's stringent approach towards traffic violations and the consequential financial burden borne by offenders.

In the broader context of traffic management, Bengaluru has been actively cracking down on habitual traffic offenders. The stringent measures, such as seizing vehicles and canceling driving licenses, aim to instill a sense of responsibility among motorists. This incident serves as a stark reminder that adherence to traffic regulations is not just a legal requirement but also crucial for fostering a safe and orderly urban environment. As the city grapples with rising traffic challenges, initiatives like these underscore the significance of individual compliance in maintaining the overall integrity of traffic systems.
