I salute 125cr people of India for accepting my decision: Narendra Modi

Kobe: Terming the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes as the biggest cleanliness drive, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that he salutes the 1.25 billion people of India for accepting the government's decision despite problems.

Addressing the Indian diaspora in the Japanese city of Kobe, Modi said he is well aware of all the problems people have been facing, be it standing in long queues at banks and ATMs or facing restrictions in using their own money, but they have still welcomed decision in national interest.

In a sheer warning to tax evaders, Modi said that there is no guarantee that something new won't be introduced to punish the Black Money holders.

Modi said, "I will dig out the records since Independence and punish them. No person with dubious credentials will go unpunished."

Modi took a sharp jibe at the black money holders by saying, "Earlier people used to throw 25 paise or 50 paise coin in River Ganga, but now people have started showering the river with Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes."
