New Delhi: Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung, on Friday, paid a visit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi after he submitted his resignation to the government of India on Thursday last.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also called Jung for Breakfast at Raj Niwas in New Delhi.

His resignation came as a surprise for many as nobody reportedly had the indication of him contemplating the decision. He has claimed that he wants to return to his first love, academics.

Jung’s constant battle with the Delhi government-led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been highlight of his two-year in the office.

His resignation, however, has raised many eyebrows as this was being considered as an outcome of his consistent clashes with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in the national capital.

In the statement, Jung thanked both PM Modi as well as Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Kejriwal for their association with him.

It is being speculated that after his resignation, retired bureaucrat Anil Baijal would take over the responsibility.
