It is to be mentioned that former President responding with a 'yes' to the RSS invitation has created much chaos and the Congress wants him to reconsider his decision.

What is this all about?

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has invited Mukherjee to be the chief guest at the concluding function of a?Tritiya Varsh Varga? or third-year course and address the Swayamsevaksa today.

The RSS invite to the former President sparked off a controversy, as the Congress leaders expressed unhappiness over his acceptance, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Sangh saw nothing wrong in it.

Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh also wrote to Mukherjee requesting him not to attend the RSS event.

Earlier, senior Congress leader P Chidambaram had urged him to take the opportunity to tell the RSS what is wrong with their ideology.

Former President, who has been critical of the RSS, is set to address its activists in Nagpur on Thursday. This will be his first speech from the RSS platform.

Accepting an invitation from the Hindutva group has sparked controversy with some of his former Congress colleagues and Left leaders expressing their reservations over his participation in the RSS meeting.
