Law should be enacted for life saving drugs: Gadkari

Addressing the vice-chancellors of the universities through video conferencing, Gadkari said that he would urge Prime Minister Narendra Modi that a law should be enacted to increase the production of life-saving drugs in the country and to approve pharmaceutical companies.

In this, arrangements should be made to give 10 percent royalties by other pharmaceutical companies to the patent holders of the drug.

He said, "If the demand for the vaccine is more than the supply, then it will cause problems. Therefore, 10 more companies should be employed to produce vaccines instead of one company. For this, the company holding the original parent of the vaccine should be paid a ten percent royalty by other companies. '

We want India to become Atma Nirbhar:

Road Transport and Highways Minister Gadkari said that India still has to procure raw materials for medicines from abroad. "We want to create a self-reliant India ... All the districts of India should be self-sufficient in the matter of medical oxygen." He said that the health sector of the country is going through a deep crisis at the moment. 'During the pandemic, we must maintain a positive attitude and maintain self-confidence.

Three vaccines have permission:

Currently, two companies are producing anti-Corona vaccines in the country. First India Biotech which is producing covaxin vaccine and second is Serum Institute of India which is producing covishield. At present, only three vaccines are allowed to be used in the country - covaxin, covishield and Sputnik - V. Dr. Reddy's Lab is importing Sputnik-V from Russia.
