Monsoon arrives three day early in Andaman and Nicobar Islands

New Delhi: The Southwest Monsoon has hit Nicobar Islands and parts of Andaman Sea and Bay of Bengal almost three days before the scheduled date, said the IMD on Sunday.

The India Meteorological Department said, "In view of the strengthening and deepening of southwesterly winds, persistent cloudiness and rainfall, southwest monsoon has advanced into some parts of southeast Bay of Bengal, Nicobar Islands, entire south Andaman Sea and parts of north Andaman Sea today."

IMD, however, said that it would be too early to give a forecast for the Monsoon to hit Kerala before the scehdule or not.

The normal onset date over Kerala, termed as the official arrival of the seasonal rainfall in India, is June 1.
