Money rains on Ratminers, who rescued trapped workers in Silkyara tunnel

Money is raining on the ratminers, who had helped rescue the 41 labourers who were trapped in the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarakashi district of Uttarakhand after a portion of the same collapsed on November 12.

The Samajwadi Party will provide financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh to the rat miners who pulled 41 laborers from the jaws of Yamraj in the Silkyara Tunnel in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand. Along with this, the party has also demanded that all the miners should also be given assistance of Rs10 lakh by the Central and State Government for their courageous work. Now Uttarakhand government has announced to give Rs 50,000 each.

The laborers who were rescued from the tunnel have so far received financial assistance of Rs 3 lakh. Uttarakhand government has given assistance of Rs 1 lakh. Navyug Company has also announced assistance of Rs 2 lakh. Along with this, it has been said that two months leave will be given with salary. The people engaged in this rescue work will be given two months' salary as incentive.

Before the commencement of work on the Silkyara Tunnel in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, this tunnel will now be subjected to safety testing and inspection. Only after this the work on the 4.5 km long tunnel project will start. Now the work will be started only after ensuring the safety of this tunnel. Along with this, an order has been issued for safety testing of the tunnels being built in the country.

The Uttarakhand government has constituted a 6-member expert committee to investigate the negligence in tunnel safety and the reasons for the debris collapse. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has formed a separate committee to investigate the incident.
