New Delhi: Actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty is being questioned by the Kolkata Police regarding one of his statements. According to the information received, during the campaign for West Bengal Election 2021, Kolkata Police conducted virtual inquiry regarding his controversial speech. An FIR was registered in Maniktala, calling his speech inciting.

Interrogation with Mithun Chakraborty:

The FIR lodged at the Maniktala police station claimed that Chakraborty, at a rally organized after joining the BJP on March 7, had chanted 'marbo ekhane lassh porbe shoshane' (If I kill you, the corpse will fall in the crematorium) and 'ek chobole chabi' (snake). You will be captured in the picture with a single bite) said the dialogue, which led to post-poll violence in the state.

Controversial speech of Mithun:

Let us tell you that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also present in the rally in which Mithun gave this statement. Earlier, Chakraborty had filed a petition in the High Court to quash the FIR. In the petition, Chakraborty had claimed that he had only spoken dialogues from his films.

While hearing the actor's plea, the Calcutta High Court had directed him to give his e-mail address to the state for allegedly inciting post-poll violence through his speeches during campaigning for the West Bengal Assembly elections. In connection with the complaint, he can join the inquiry through video conference.
