On February last, a 45-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a train at Shahdara Metro station. Later, he was identified as Manoj Kumar, resident of Shahdara, who jumped off in front of Rithala-bound metro train

New Delhi: A man committed suicide by jumping in front of a metro train at the Azadpur metro station in the national capital. The incident that took place in the early hours on Monday also hampered the metro routes in the state.

The police said, "The man has not been yet identified. We are investigating the matter."

The suicide also caused delay to many passengers on yellow line and many people got late to their offices as the incident occurred during office hours.

This is not the first time when such tragedy has taken place. Many such incidents have been witnessed by Delhiites earlier also.

According to data of Central Industrial Security Force:

  • In 2016, 88 cases of attempt to suicide has been witnessed on Delhi Metro lines.
  • 12 people have lost their lives by jumping in front of Metro train in Delhi.
