New Delhi: The difficulties for Maldives President Mohammad Muizzu are steadily increasing. Picking a fight with India is proving costly for him. Following objectionable comments from some ministers of Maldives after the release of pictures during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Lakshadweep visit, the opposition in Maldives is now seen attacking in a hostile manner. Despite continuous clarifications from the Maldives government, the challenges for the government don't seem to be reducing. After being surrounded on all sides, there is now a threat to his chair as well, with preparations to bring a no-confidence motion against him.

The first call for Muizzu's removal from office comes from the country's MP and The Democrat leader Ali Azim. He has sought help from other leaders in the country to remove Muizzu from the position of the President. The Maldives President is currently on a five-day visit to China, and resentment against him is increasing in the country. Meanwhile, India has strongly criticized the inappropriate comments made against PM Modi, summoning the Maldives ambassador to express displeasure.
