The all-party meeting regarding Maratha reservation in Maharashtra has ended. After this meeting, CM Shinde said that Maharashtra is in support of Maratha reservation.
Shinde had called this all-party meeting in view of the worsening situation in the state due to this movement. He said that work on Maratha reservation is going on in two ways. A resolution has also been passed in the meeting regarding maintaining peace and order in the state.
‘’We have also appealed to Manoj Jarange Patil to postpone the agitation,’’ he added.
Former Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray and his party were not invited for this meeting.
According to the sources, there was a consensus of all the parties in this meeting to maintain law and order in the state. All the big Maratha community leaders of the state should be taken into confidence. Also, the opposition leaders have demanded that since there is a BJP government at the Centre, a bill on the subject of reservation should be brought in the Parliament during the winter session.
Shetkari Kamgar Party leader Jayant Patil said that apart from the curative petition, the Center should work on increasing the reservation limit to more than 50 percent and Maratha reservation should be given by December. Solve the question of Maratha community both at the center and in the state. At the same time, Bachchu Kadu said that reservation should be given to Maratha and Kunbi together.
Due to this agitation, government bus services have been completely suspended in five districts of Marathwada. Whereas curfew has been imposed in some parts of Beed and internet has been shut down, where the protesters targeted the residences of leaders of political parties. The Chief Minister has appealed to the people not to indulge in violence and has also asked political parties to avoid indulging in any activity that may worsen the situation.
The Maharashtra government had on Tuesday issued an order asking the concerned authorities to issue new Kunbi caste certificates to members of the eligible Maratha community, paving the way for them to avail reservation benefits under the Other Backward Class (OBC) category.
