New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday flagged off the country's first driverless metro through video conferencing. After which the first driverless Metro started running in 37 km radius on Janakpuri West-Botanical Garden Corridor on Magenta Line of Delhi Metro. PM Modi also launched the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) service on the Airport Express line.

PM Modi said that work is on to bring different types of metro to the country. RRTS trains are being made between Delhi-Meerut, Metro lights are coming in some cities where there is less demand for rides, Metro Neo is also in operation. PM Modi said that work is also being done on the water metro, where there are large water bodies, they will be connected to them. Its work in Kochi is advancing rapidly.

First metro in the country was started with the efforts of Atal Ji. When our govt was formed in 2014, only 5 cities had metro services & today 18 cities have metro rail service. By 2025, we will take this service to more than 25 cities: PM Narendra Modi

PM shows green flag to driverless metro :

The country's first driverless train ran on the Magenta Line and Pink Line of the Delhi Metro. In the first phase, the driverless train ran on the Magenta line between Janakpuri West to the Botanical Gardens metro station of Noida. A documentary was shown on the metro before it was flagged off. The metro has expanded a lot since the Atal Bihar program. Metro is operational in 18 cities and metro construction is going on in 23 cities.
