Bhatinda: Expressing his concern over woes of farmers of India and at the same time attacking the Pakistan for regular ceasefire violations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in Punjab that the fields of our farmers must have adequate water. The PM said, water that belongs to India cannot be allowed to go to Pakistan.

The Prime Minister who was in the state for laying the foundation stone of AIIMS, praised the Indian Army for its bravery and said that the neighbour has not still recovered from the shock after the Surgical Strike conducted by the brave soldiers. "Pakistan now knows fully well what the Indian Army is capable of," the PM said.

The Prime Minister stated, "If Pakistan wants to compete India, its people should talk to their leaders and tell them to fight corruption and fake notes first." PM Modi also reminded the neighbour about their hard times and said that Pakistan regularly shells mortars, kills our soldiers but when school in Peshawar was attacked every Indian was teary-eyed.

What PM said on Indus Water Treaty:

  • For me, elections do not matter. I am more concerned about the welfare of the farmers.
  • Government will do everything to give enough water to our farmers.
  • I am doing everything possible to ensure the middle class is not exploited and the poor get their due.
  • My farmers have the right over the water that flows through Indus, will strive to get that water back.
  • I have created a task force to stop Indus river's water to go to Pakistan and re route it to Punjab
  • I encourage people to turn their mobiles into wallets and go towards cashless economy.
  • I know what my farmers are capable of. Give my farmers water and they would grow gold in the fields.

What PM said on Demonetisation:

  • Black money and corruption has looted the middle class and deprived poor of their rights. I want to give them their rights and assure them that what is theirs would remain theirs.
  • I am doing everything possible to ensure the middle class is not exploited and the poor get their due.
  • I fall short of words in conveying my thanks to people as they stood with me even when they had to face hardships.
  • Your mobile phone is also a bank. It can be used for purchasing things, making payments.

Prime Minister lays the foundation stone of AIIMS:

The Prime Minister was in the state to lay the foundation stone of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

It may be mentioned that the 750-bedded AIIMS would be set up with an outlay of Rs 925 crore and it would be spread over 177 acres of land on the Bathinda-Dabwali road. The Prime Minister thanked the state government for providing land for the construction of the hospital.

  • Social infrastructure is essential for the development of every nation; We need top quality schools and hospitals.
  • AIIMS here will benefit the local areas.
  • My government does not only stop at laying foundation stones, we complete all projects and promises we have done to the nation and its people.
  • It is a priority for us that projects are completed on time or before time.

The PM concluded his speech by appreciating the efforts of Punjab government and said that the Centre is with them in their efforts for the welfare of the common man. "Punbaj is fortunate to have Prakash Singh Badal as the Chief Minister," said the PM.
