Karnataka minister H S Mahadeva dies due to heart attack

Bengaluru: Minister for Co-operation and Sugar H.S Mahadeva Prasad passed away on Tuesday due to a heart attack.

The 58-year-old was scheduled to attend the Silver Jubilee celebration of Co-operation Transport Network (Sahakara Sarige) in Koppa town of Chikkamagalur.

According to the local congress leaders, they tried to reach Prasad by knocking the door but he was not opening. Later, using a spare key they opened the door and found the body lying on the bed.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also expressed the sadness and said, "It is a huge personal loss to me and the Congress Party. I have lost a close friend and a wonderful colleague. "

The BJP State President and Former Karnataka CM B.S.Yeddyurappa also condoled Prasad's demise and tweeted:

He was survived by his wife and son.

The government has declared public holiday for a day and a three-day mourning in the state.

Prasad was a five-term member of Karnataka Legislative Assembly representing Gundlupet assembly constituency.

In 2010, He was appointed as the President of District Congress Committee Chamarajnagar.
