JNU committee recommends rustication of Kanhaiya and others

New Delhi: The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student union president Kanhaiya Kumar, Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya may face a rustication in connection with their alleged involvement Afzal Guru programme.

The programme on Afzal Gurul was held in the JNU campus on February 9.

The decision to rusticate these students will be taken by Vice-Chancellor M Jagdesh Kumar and other officials of the varsity including Chief proctor A Dimri, reports in media say.

The recommendation of rustication of these students was taken by a five-member committee. The report was submitted on Monday. A show cause notice has also been issued to 21 other students for their participation in the event.
