Jaipur bandh today after Rajput leader’s killing

Tension prevailed in parts of Rajasthan following Tuesday’s day light killing of prominent Rajput leader Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi in his house.

Rajput organisations have given a call for 'Jaipur Bandh' on Wednesday. Gogamedi's supporters have also threatened a statewide bandh if action is not taken.

CCTV footage shows that Gogamedi, who led a fringe outfit called Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena, was shot dead by three men who were having tea with him in his living room.

Gangster Rohit Godara, closely associated with Goldie Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi gang, has taken responsibility for the murder in a Facebook post.

Gogamedi and his two companions were shot in the attack, after which they were taken to the hospital where doctors declared them dead. Police said that during the encounter, Gogamedi's associates also killed one of the attackers.

The sensational murder of the Rajput leader sparked protests in Rajasthan, where the process of transition of power is underway after the BJP defeated the Congress in the recently held assembly elections.

Supporters of the Rajput leader blocked Shipra Path Road outside the hospital and demanded immediate arrest of the accused. Apart from Jaipur, protests also took place in Churu, Udaipur, Alwar and Jodhpur districts.

Gogamedi had formed the Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena in 2015 after separating from the Rajput Karni Sena, which was then led by Lokendra Singh Kalvi. Both organizations had protested against the 2018 film 'Padmaavat' for allegedly distorting historical facts about the Rajput community.

BJP leader Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that making the state crime free is one of our top priorities as soon as we take oath.

Information in this regard has been taken from the Police Commissioner and he has asked for the arrest of the accused as soon as possible. Social people will have to maintain peace and patience.

Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph said, "The entire incident was captured on CCTV. We hope that we We will soon identify the remaining two persons and catch the person who planned this incident." On Tuesday, Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi was shot dead.
