Indigo, Spice jet airways come face-to-face at IGI airport

A major accident was averted at the Indira Gandhi International Airport when an Indigo and Spice Jet aircraft came face to face on the runway on Tuesday.

New Delhi: A major accident was averted at the Indira Gandhi International Airport when an Indigo and Spice Jet aircraft came face-to-face on the runway on Tuesday.There were, however, no reports of any casualties or harm to the passengers.

According to the reports the Indigo flight had just arrived from Lucknow and the Spice Jet was about to take off.

  • The matter has been reported to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
  • The aviation regulator has begun the investigation regarding the incident.

The incident occurred hours after a Jet Airways 9W 2374 aircraft from Goa-Mumbai with 154 passengers and seven crew members on board skidded off the runway while aligning to takeoff from Dabolim Airport on Tuesday morning.
