Terrorists mutilate the body of an Indian soldier, flee back into PoK 

The body was mutilated and his head was brought back across the Line of Control (LoC) by the terrorists. The Pakistani troops helped them flee back into the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) under supporting fire cover. One attacker, however, was neutralised by the Indian Army.

Srinagar: An Indian soldier identified as Manjeet Singh was killed in an encounter with terrorists in the Machil sector along the Line of Control on late Friday night in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir. The soldier belonged to the 17 th Sikh regiment.

The body was mutilated and his head was brought back across the Line of Control (LoC) by the terrorists. The Pakistani troops helped them flee back into the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) under supporting fire cover. One attacker, however, was neutralised by the Indian Army.

The Prime Minister, Defence Minister and Chief of Army Staff were briefed over the beheading of the soldier.

“The incident reflected the barbarism pervading in official and unofficial organisations in Pakistan,” an army spokesperson said.

An official statement was also released by the Indian Army said, “...one soldier has been martyred and one terrorist has been killed. In a despicable act, the terrorist mutilated the body of the Indian Army Soldier before fleeing into PoK.
