Indian Navy Day is celebrated every year on 4 December. Indian Navy Day holds a special place in the hearts of Indians and they celebrate it with great pride and valor.

Preparations to celebrate the important day begin much before the actual date. Indian Navy proudly displays its strength and commitment on this day. Indian Navy celebrates this day as "Operation Trident".

On this day in the year 1971, during the war between India and Pakistan, the operation was started by the Indian Navy in Karachi Harbor. This is why the Navy celebrates this day with grandeur.

The Indian Navy came into existence during the 1971 war between India and Pakistan. This fight to separate Bangladesh from Pakistan and give it the status of an independent nation started from 3 December 1971 and continued till 16 December 1971.

As a result of this war, Bangladesh could establish its existence on the world map as an independent nation. During this war, Operation Trident was launched in the Indian Navy on the night of 4 December 1971.

This was a retaliation to Operation Genghis Khan from Karachi port in Pakistan. This operation of the Indian Navy was successful. On this day in 1971, Indian Navy soldiers bombed Pakistan's Karachi port and destroyed it. Hundreds of Pakistani soldiers were also killed in this attack.

During this, Pakistan's PNS Ghazi submarine was sunk in water by Indian Navy personnel. INS Vikrant played an important role in this. This expedition was successfully led by Commodore Kasaragod Pattanshetty Gopal Rao. The Indian Navy was successful in this campaign and that is why we Indians remember this day today. After this operation, Operation Cactus was also conducted by the Indian Navy.

This occasion is a day to remember the brave hearts who made the supreme sacrifice and protected our country. On this occasion, Indian naval forces also hold parades, exhibitions and public display of the capabilities of latest naval technologies. This occasion is also an opportunity to highlight the importance of security of Indian maritime border.
