India and Tajikistan to sign several agreements in Delhi in two days

Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon who has come here on a five-day visit is likely to sign several bilateral agreements on tourism, science and technology, terrorism and other fields during his stay.

New Delhi: Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon who has come here on a five-day visit is likely to sign several bilateral agreements on tourism, science and technology, terrorism and other fields during his stay. He will return to his country on Sunday. The President received a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhawan here, on Saturday. He also met President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted,"A special Saturday for Indian diplomacy as President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan receives a ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.”

  • He also paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.

  • Pm Modi and Prez Rahmon are scheduled to hold delegation level talks later in the day.

This is the sixth visit of President Rahmon to the country. During his last visit to India in 2012, the two countries (India and Tajikistan) had improved their bilateral relations to the level of a long-term strategic partnership.
