India, Pakistan trade heavy firing on LoC

Srinagar: Indian and Pakistan armies traded heavy fire on Sunday on the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district after Pakistan indulged in unprovoked shelling and firing at Indian positions.

Defence Ministry spokesman Lt. Col. Manish Mehta said: "Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked and indiscriminate firing from 6.40 p.m. onwards in Poonch sector. Indian Army is retaliating strongly and effectively."

Two people -- an army soldier on leave and his wife -- were killed and two children of the couple injured in the Pakistani shelling in the same sector on Saturday.
