Jammu: Security forces, on Monday, foil infiltration bid in Jammu and Kashmir's Keran sector, killing at least one infiltrator.

Earlier in the day, Indian and Pakistan troops traded heavy fire on Monday on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district.

Police sources said heavy shelling and firing started between the two armies in Kerni area.

Sources said that a 10-year-boy has been killed while five others were injured during the ceasefire violation by Pakistan army.

The boy identified as Asrar Ahmad was killed as the Pakistani troopers began shelling and firing in the Kerni area at 6.30 a.m.

"After the Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked shelling and firing at Indian positions, Indian military retaliated strongly and effectively.

"Shelling and firing exchanges are going on," the sources added.
