India, China likely to discuss NSG issue ahead of BRICS in Goa

Chinese President Xi Jinping may discuss country’s Nuclear Supply Group ( NSG ) membership issue in the sidelines of BRICKS conference in Goa next week., it is learnt here on Monday.

New Delhi: Chinese President Xi Jinping may discuss country’s Nuclear Supply Group ( NSG ) membership issue in the sidelines of BRICS conference in Goa next week., it is learnt here on Monday.

A positive response from that country will help India become a member as all other nations have expressed themselves in favour of this country.

The two-day conference will begin on October 15. Five countries-- Brazil ,Russia, India, China and South Africa—are members of the group . South Afirca is new entrant. Originally first four countries were the only members.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been trying hard for the purpose. He had held discussion in this regard with some Chinese leaders last month. The countries which have backed the proposal due to his efforts so far include the US. Russia and France.
