India has extended suspension of scheduled international flights till May 31, 2021. The restriction shall not apply to international all-cargo operations and flights specifically approved by DGCA.

However, international scheduled flights may be allowed on select routes by the competent authority on case to case basis.

Scheduled international flights were suspended on March 23, 2020.

COVID-19 in India:

As many as 386,829 more people tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative cases to 1,87,62,976, the Union health ministry said on Friday morning.

Maharashtra continues to be the worst-affected state as it logged 66,159 new cases on Thursday, taking the active tally to 6,70,301.

Karnataka has jumped to the second position after an alarming increase of 39,047 fresh cases, overtaking Uttar Pradesh.

On the other hand, the daily fatalities have dipped marginally with 3,498 more people succumbing to the disease in the last 24 hours.

The number stood at 3,645 on Thursday. The cumulative death toll now stands at 2,08,330. In addition to this, 2,97,540 more patients were discharged from various hospitals across the country in the same duration.

With this, the total number of recoveries have jumped up to 1,53,84,418.

As a result, the active tally in India is inching towards the 32-lakh mark as it stands at 31,70,228. The number was 30,84,814 on Thursday.
