Srinagar: India Air force, on Wednesday, struck down Pakistan's F-16 fighter-plane in Laam valley in Nowshera area, Jammu and kashmir. The pilot, however, ejected himself and was seen landing in Pakistan territory with his parachute.

The plane was shot down when Pakistani Air force was trying to violate Indian Airspace behind combat air patrolling. It also dropped a bomb in Nowshera's forest.

The Pakistan Air Force (PAF), however, claims to have undertaken strikes across the Line of Control from Pakistani airspace. "Sole purpose of this action was to demonstrate our right, will and capability for self-defence. We do not wish to escalate but are fully prepared if forced into that paradigm," said the Pakistani foreign office.
