The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall warning for the states of Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh as Cyclone Biparjoy weakens into a deep depression. The remnant of the cyclonic storm is now centered over Southwest Rajasthan and adjoining Gujarat, expected to move East-Northeastwards while maintaining depression intensity until the forenoon of June 18.

According to the IMD press release, Southwest Rajasthan will likely experience light to moderate rainfall at most places on June 18, with isolated heavy to very heavy falls. Meanwhile, the Southeast part of the state can expect light to moderate rainfall at most places, with isolated heavy to extremely heavy falls on June 18 and isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall on June 19.

In the northern region of Gujarat, light to moderate rainfall is expected at most places on June 18. On June 19, West Madhya Pradesh is likely to witness isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall.

The IMD warns that squally winds over South Rajasthan and adjoining North Gujarat could cause damage in the next seven hours. High-speed winds may reduce visibility, leading to transportation difficulties in heavy rain and damage to loose or unsecured structures.

Apart from these regions, southern India is also expected to receive rainfall. Tamil Nadu will witness isolated heavy rains on June 18 and June 19, while Kerala can expect heavy falls from June 18 to June 21. South Interior Karnataka may experience isolated heavy downpours from June 19 to June 21.

Meghalaya is predicted to face extremely heavy rainfall from June 18 to June 19, while Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to see heavy to very heavy rains in the next five days.

According to IMD's national weather bulletin, light to scattered rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is anticipated over Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha during the next three days, becoming fairly widespread thereafter.

Heatwave conditions persist in certain areas as per IMD's forecast. Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Odisha, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh are expected to experience heatwave to severe heatwave conditions for the next three to four days. Isolated pockets in Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Telangana, and East Uttar Pradesh will also face heatwave to severe heatwave conditions for the next three days, with gradual relief likely after that period.
