IIT-Madras campus rocked by two suicide cases within an hour
Chennai: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras campus was struck by a state of trauma after the news of two suicide cases in a span of hour.
The first case of suicide was of an assistant professor’s wife while the second was of post-doctoral research scholar on Wednesday, police said.
Wife of physics assistant professor Ganeshan, Vijayalakshmi (47), was found hanging inside her quarters around 1400 hours while the body of P Maheshwari (34) a post-doctoral research scholar was found dead hanging in Sabarmathi hostel, police added.
No suicide note was recovered in both the cases.
The institute has mourned the suicide cases in a press statement here released on Thursday.
