Lucknow: Union Human Resource Development minister Smriti Irani who has raked up quite a few controversies is at it again. Addressing a seminar here on Friday she gave a new definition of educated persons.

“Mere degree is not enough. Those who do social work should be called educated persons”, she told the gathering. In this connection, she referred to the story of a doctor in Maharashtra. The docto “killed” many female babies.She was exposed only by a journalist. “ can we call him an educated person?”, she asked.

She has not yet forgotten the Jawaharlal Nehru University student leader Kanhaiya Kumar who is facing a sedition charge.For, she asked the students to shout “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” slogan “ and said“ shout it so loud that the chant reaches JNU”.

Referring to the opposition charge that she promotes “ saffron causes”, she said, on the contrary “ I promote whatever is good for the country.
