Mumbai and parts of Tamil Nadu are grappling with heavy rainfall, while Himachal Pradesh braces for anticipated snowfall. Here's a comprehensive look at the latest updates and forecasts shaping India's diverse meteorological landscape.

Rainfall in Mumbai and Maharashtra

Sunday morning brought forth heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts continue to predict moderate to heavy rainfall across Maharashtra, including Mumbai, on November 26. With a potential hailstorm in the range of 64.5 mm to 115.6 mm, the IMD has urged the public to take necessary precautions.

A similar forecast extends to Marathwada, eastern and western regions of Rajasthan, where thunderstorms accompanied by hailstorms and heavy rainfall are anticipated during November 26-27.

Tamil Nadu's Soaking Showers

Tamil Nadu is not exempt from nature's downpour, with several districts experiencing heavy showers in the past few days. The Regional Meteorological Department in Chennai issued a warning for light to moderate rainfall in parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry until November 26. A low-pressure area forming over the South Andaman Sea might intensify into a depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal on November 27, further influencing the weather.

Due to persistent rain, schools in Chennai, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, and Kanchipuram districts have declared a holiday.

Snowfall on the Horizon for Himachal Pradesh

In the northern realm, Himachal Pradesh is gearing up for a change in scenery. The weather department forecasts light to moderate rain, coupled with snowfall in the higher regions of the state on November 26 and 27. Districts like Chamba, Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti, Kullu, Kangra, and Shimla are expected to witness snowfall, while lower areas such as Sirmaur, Solan, Mandi, and Kangra may experience light rainfall. The weather is predicted to clear up from November 28-29.

Tragedy Strikes Kerala Amidst Rainfall

In a tragic turn of events, Kerala witnessed a stampede during the annual festival at Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) on Saturday. Four students lost their lives, and over 60 were injured during a concert by singer Nikita Gandhi. The stampede occurred when rain began, leading to a rush at the stairs and a chaotic situation.

As the nation navigates these weather-induced challenges, it underscores the unpredictability of nature and the need for preparedness to mitigate the impact on communities.
