Jind (Haryana): A village located in Haryana witnessed a communal uproar when a few blue-coloured flags, inscribed with the numbers '786' were put up at an under-construction temple by some unidentified people.

The incident that took place on Wednesday last created tensions in the village between the two communities as the number 786 holds the holy significance in Islam.

A police force was immediately deployed to region to get control over the situation and maintain law and order.

It is to be mentioned that the incident took place two days after a group of men entered a mosque at Anchra Khurd village in Jind district and allegedly injured three people including an Imam.

The Haryana police said that situation after the attack on the Imam on last Sunday night, was under control but the situation has worsened now.

Senior Superintendent of Police Shashank Anand, who reached the village along with administration officials and spent the whole night there to keep the situation, had said, "Though it was a tense Eid on Monday, the village did not witness any untoward incident due to the presence of police."
