New Delhi: The Govt. is to convert all it's 2,697 test practice centres of National Testing Agency into coaching centres for JEE and NEET from next year. This can affect many private coaching centres, which make huge money out of it.

According to a HRD ministry official, the practice centres will start functioning from september 8, 2018.

"Students hailing from rural and semi-urban areas will also be benefited," the HRD ministry official said.

NTA will allow aspirants to sit for a mock test for the forthcoming Joint Entrance Examination-Main (JEE-Main) in January 2019.

Students will have to register themselves with the testing agency through mobile app and website. They can then be eligible to appear for the mock test for the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test-UG (NEET-UG) and the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET).

Students will also be able to analyse their test results with NTA mentors, clear and rectify their mistakes at the centres.

“Initially, the practice centres will allow candidates to take mock tests for JEE Mains only. As NEET-UG is not a computer-based test currently, there will be no mock test at the centres for the time being,” the HRD ministry official said.

The NTA will launch the mobile application and websites for registration on September 1.

The same day, at noon, the agency will also open the online registration process for UGC-NET 2018 and JEE-Main Registrations will continue till September 30.

The mobile application can also help an aspirant identify the centre closest to his or her location.
