New Delhi: The Central Government has extended the validity of Driving License, Vehicle Registration Certificate (RC), Fitness Certificate (Fitness Certificate) and all types of permits till 30 September 2021, whose validity expired after February 2020.

This decision of the government will bring relief to all those people who could not get their documents renewed due to restrictions imposed during the covid-19 pandemic.

The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways on Thursday issued an advisory directing the transport departments not to prosecute motor vehicle drivers whose documents have expired since February last year.

Driving without a valid license attracts a fine of Rs 5,000. While there is a provision of heavy fine for other invalid documents as well. One has to pay a fine of Rs 5,000 for an invalid vehicle registration certificate, Rs 10,000 for an invalid permit, and Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000 for driving a vehicle with an invalid fitness certificate.

Polution Certificate Renew date:

Officials clarified that the validity of expired pollution control certificates (Pollution Certificates) has not been extended. That is, if the date of the vehicle's pollution certificate has passed, then the driver will have to pay a fine on it.

The ministry has said in the advisory, "Keeping in view the grave situation... it is advised that the validity of all the documents mentioned, whose validity could not or could not be extended due to the lockdown and which 1 which had expired from February, 2020 or will expire by September 30, 2021, may be considered valid till September 30, 2021. Enforcement officers are advised to treat such documents as valid till September 30, 2021. "
