Odisha: Goods train derails in Cuttack, no casualties reported

Bhubaneswar: Sixteen coaches of a fertiliser-laden goods train derailed near Nergundi station in Cuttack district of Odisha on Wednesday, affecting the train movement on the route.

The mishap occurred at around 0400 hours However, there was no casualty or injuries, said an official of East Coast Railway (EcoR).

The goods train was coming from Gangavaram port in Andhra Pradesh to Haibargaon in Assam loaded with fertiliser.

The EcoR, however, said the train movement would not hamper much as trains will run on an alternate route via Barang/Kapilas road bypassing Cuttack station.

Several local passenger trains passing through the line have been cancelled.
