Gir cubs to enjoy benefit of doubt over consuming human flesh

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat forest department is likely to benefit of doubt to two of three lions who were found eating human flesh and will put them under obersevation.

The forest department, in such case, sends the man eater feline to captivity in zoos, forest officials said.

“A human hari was found in the faeces of the two cubs was neglible and they may have consumed the leftovers and the lion who had killed the human was already sent to captivity after large amount of human hair were found in his scat,” officials added after the scat analysis.

"The two cubs are under observation and once we find their behaviour is convincing, they will be released in the wild," Chief conservator of forests A P Singh said.
