Fourth day of medical Despair, IMA joins the strike

Mumbai: The strike by junior Maharashtra doctors which began on Moday entered the fourth day as their protest against the physical assault on doctors by patients and their relatives had gained a wide support.

Over 40,000 doctors from the Indian Medical Association and resident doctors from Delhi have come in support of these junior doctors. This upheaval has cost the lives of 50 people by now, seeing which the government has issued threats of suspension and termination defying which around 4,000 student doctors decided to continue their protest.

The revolt is against all the actions taken by government and the IMA has urged the Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India, Indian Academy of Paediatricians and the Maharashtra Association of Gazetted Medical Officers to join the strike.

To add on to the mayhem, medical education minister Girish Mahajan announced on Wednesday evening after a two-hour meeting at Vidhan Bhavan that the doctors had withdrawn their mass leave but the doctors refuted this as false claim and that the talks were unsuccessful.

Apparently, Doctors were considering to call off the strike when another attack on doctor at Sion Hospital further affirmed their resolute.

To end this chaos, the state government has asked for a week’s time to setup security personnel, but doctors remained stick to their demand being met within four days.
