The north and northeast regions of India are currently under the grip of an unrelenting fog, significantly impacting transportation. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts that the prevailing weather conditions, characterized by dense to very dense fog, will persist for the next five days. This has resulted in a multitude of travel woes, affecting both rail and air traffic.

As of now, 18 trains scheduled to arrive in Delhi are experiencing delays ranging up to six hours. The thick fog has enshrouded railway tracks, causing disruptions in the train schedule. Some of the prominent trains facing delays include the Jammu Tawi-New Delhi Rajdhani Express, Bangalore-Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express, and Puri-Nizamuddin Purushotaam Express.

Here is a list of trains and their respective delays:

12426 Jammu Tawi-New Delhi Rajdhani Express: 01:45

22691 Bangalore-Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express: 01:10

22811 Bhubaneshwar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express: 03:45

12266 Jammu Tawi-Delhi Sarai Rohilla Duronto: 02:30

12281 Bhubaneshwar-New Delhi Duronto: 04:30

15658 Kamkhya-Delhi Junction: 01:00

12447 Manikpur-Nizamuddin Express: 02:00

Moreover, flight operations at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport have been severely affected due to the reduced visibility caused by the dense fog. The Palam Observatory at the airport recorded visibility as low as 50 meters. Only runways compliant with CAT III-B standards can facilitate take-offs and landings in such conditions.

Passengers at the IGI airport find themselves stranded as several flight operations face delays. "I have come from Bahrain. My flight was delayed by one hour," expressed a passenger to ANI.

As the fog continues to shroud these regions, it is imperative for travelers to stay updated on the status of their journeys. Weather conditions are expected to persist, and it's advisable to check with relevant authorities for real-time updates.
