First flight trial successfully conducted at Jaisalmer airport

Jaisalmer: The first flight trial between Jodhpur and Jaisalmer was successfully performed on Monday at the Jaisalmer airport.

A nine-seater Cessena Grand Carvan aircraft by private airlines Supreme Aviation was the first ever passenger to have landed in Jaisalmer .

This was the first trial and the second trial is scheduled on February 8. The CEO of the Supreme Aviation Amit Agarwal said, "If all the hurdles are cleared, we would be the first one to link two important tourist destinations of the state - Jodhpur and Jaisalmer by air route."

It may be mentioned that the first trial was scheduled to take place on December 13 but due to some issues with the airport authorities and defence the trail was postponed to February 7 and 8.

What else Amit Agarwal said?

  • There are still some issues to be addressed on part of the airport authority and the defence, like installation of the Instrument Landing System (ILS), which enables landing during low vision.
  • But all these would be addressed in a meeting scheduled with the state government, Air Force and the airport authority on February 9, after which the final schedule of the flight between Jodhpur and Jaisalmer would be finalised."
