First stealth guided missile destroyer INS Visakhapatnam joins Indian Navy

New Delhi: INS Visakhapatnam has joined the naval enclosure today. With its inclusion, the strength of the Indian Navy has increased even more. On this occasion, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh while congratulating all the countrymen said that I am confident that INS Visakhapatnam will further strengthen our maritime security while living up to its name.

INS Visakhapatnam joins Navy:

Rajnath Singh said that the ship is completely indigenous. Therefore, there is no doubt that in the coming time each will fulfill the maritime needs of not only its own but the whole world.

INS Visakhapatnam Anti-Submarine Rockets, surface-to-surface and surface-to-air missiles and deadly built at Mazagon Dock under the Aatmnirbhar Bharat Yojana Equipped with weapons and sensors. INS Visakhapatnam has been constructed using indigenous steel DMR 249A. It has an overall length of 163 meters and is one of the largest destroyers built in India.


INS Visakhapatnam is the first destroyer (P15 Destroyer) of the Rs 35,000 crore Self-Reliant India Project '15B'. A total of four warships are being built under this project. In these, 75 percent indigenous equipment has been used. After INS Visakhapatnam, the fourth Kalvari class submarine 'Vela' will also be inducted into the Navy on November 28.

About INS Visakhapatnam:

Two helicopters can land at INS Visakhapatnam. This is the country's first stealth destroyer, that is, this ship is capable of dodging radar and it will not be easily visible to the enemy.

Weight of 7500 tons and speed of 30 nautical miles. This ship runs on gas propulsion. Equipped with destroyer missiles, anti-submarine rockets, advanced electronic warfare like BrahMos-Barak. 39 Naval ships and submarines are being built in various Indian shipyards.
