Bhopal: At least 12 people were injured when an explosion took place in the general coach of the 59320 Bhopal-Ujjain passenger train at around 1000 hours on Tuesday.

The incident took place in the first compartment between Jabri and Kalapipal stations near Shujalpur in Madhya Pradesh.

The Madhya Pradesh government has announced the compensation of Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 to the severely injured and injured people, respectively.

The Railway PRO Jitendra Kumar Jayant said, "The blast occurred in the general coach of the train when it was on its way to Ujjain from Bhopal. The medical teams have taken the injured to the hospital and an anti-bomb squad has also been deployed to the site."

The officer stated that the cause of explosion is yet to be ascertained.
